Graduate Certificate in Information Technology

 

1. English language proficiency

1.1 English Language Skills Test

• IELTS Academic – A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each subtest; or
• PTE Academic – A minimum result of 56 overall and a minimum result of 46 in each subtest; or
• TOEFL IBT score – a minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 19 in Writing, 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking; or
• TOEFL PBT score – A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing

1.2 Prior Study

If the Applicant has successfully completed a minimum 3-years higher education studies from an English-speaking country that completed no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at AITC:

• In one of the following English-speaking countries: American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Gibraltar, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, The Gambia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe; or
• If you can provide a statement or certificate issued by the Registrar (or equivalent) that the sole language of the instruction and assessment for your qualification was English.

1.3 Assessment of English Proficiency based on work experience

• If the Applicant has lived and worked in an English-speaking country (as listed above) continuously for at least five years prior to the commencement of the program at AITC. A work reference letter on company letterhead with a clear statement on the nature of work, the period of employment and contact details for the reference check.

2. Education and other qualifications:

• An approved three-year undergraduate degree equivalent from an approved university or other educational institution; or
• Completion of AQF Level 7 or above level study in Australia;
• Other qualifications with the combination of education and work experience will be considered case by case.
This course not only allows those with a related degree (not necessary to be an IT degree) to undertake a specialised sequence of units to upskill or refresh their professional IT knowledge, but also serves as an excellent retraining opportunity if a student is a professional aiming to move into a new IT career. Students with a Bachelor degree are eligible to apply for this degree.

 

Graduate Diploma of Information Technology

 

1. English language proficiency

The same English Language requirements as Graduate Certificate in Information Technology

2. Education and other qualifications:

• An Australian bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with an average mark of 60; or equivalent qualification or
• Completion of AITC Graduate Certificate in Information Technology and an average mark of 65 overall or no fails. Units completed in the Graduate Certificate may be able to be credited to the Graduate Diploma in accordance with the RPL policy.
The Graduate Diploma is designed for students with little or no background in information technology but wishing to attain a qualification in this area, or who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology. Students with a Bachelor degree or a GCIT (AITC credits recognised) are eligible to apply for this degree.

Master of Information Technology

 

1. English language proficiency

The same English Language requirements as Graduate Certificate in Information Technology.

2. Education and other qualifications:

• An Australian bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with an average mark of 65; or equivalent qualification or
• Completion of AITC Graduate Diploma of Information Technology with an average mark of 65 overall or Completion of AITC Graduate Certificate in Information Technology with an average mark of 70 overall. Units completed in the Graduate Diploma / Graduate Certificate may be able to be credited to the Master’s degree in accordance with the RPL policy.

The master degree is designed for not only those who have limited computing experiences and been seeking a qualification in information technology, but also candidates who already have a sound IT background and wish to update and develop their knowledge and skills in a specialised field of advanced computing, so as to keep pace with the rapid changes in technology and business. Students with a Bachelor degree in IT or relevant disciplines or a GDIT (AITC credit recognised) are eligible to apply for this degree. For students without a Bachelor degree in a relevant IT discipline, they will need to enrol GCIT first. Only upon successful completion of GCIT, they will be eligible to upgrade to MIT.
